Capitol Hill Icon  | ART OPENINGS |

Opening Reception:  Sunday June 6, 2010 3:30-5:30 PM

The Corner Store in partnership with Watkins Elementary School presents the 4th Annual Fused Glass Art show and sale on Sunday June 6, 2010 3:30-5:30 pm.  The event will be held at at the Corner Store located at 900 South Carolina Ave, SE Washington DC 20003.

Each year the students of Watkins Elementary work to make fused glass art to sell to help raise funds for other children in the world in need.  This year our profits will be going to an organization called INCEF (International Conservation and Education Fund).   INCEF is working in the Democratic Republic of the Congo with refugee camps.  There are 120,000 refugees many of which are children in great need of medicines etc.  Last year Watkins Elementary School raised funds for mosquito nets in Africa and sent $9000 to Save the Children Foundation.  The project "Kids-helping-kids" is hoping to reproduce their last year's successes this year.
