East City Super Weekend of Art Openings and Events

Are you still reeling from yesterday's artwalk?  Here at East City Art we still are !  If you are like us, you can't get enough art and it's a good thing that this weekend is so jam packed.  Should we be calling this weekend's round of openings the East City Super Street Art Weekend?  You be the judge!

Get your passports together, make sure your visas and shots are up to date and, dare we print it, cross that body of water known as the Potomac into the land of the virgin queen.  The Capitol Hill Art League will present "Reflections" a juried group show at the Fisher Art Gallery at the Alexandria Campus of Northern Viginia Community College. The show opens at 7pm, closes at 10pm and the juror talk will begin at 8pm. For directions to the Fischer art gallery click here.

You'll have plenty of time to get back to DC and head over to the Fridge for the opening of Decoy's recent work.  The opening begins at 6pm and ends at 10pm.  Live tatooing will be performed.  The Fridge is located at 516 8th St SE Rear Alley (behind Belga Cafe).

On Saturday afternoon, take that Photoshop class you've always wanted to take for $30 at the Brentwood Arts Exchange.  It begins at 1pm and ends at 5pm.  The Brentwood Arts Exchange at the Gateway Arts Center is located at 3901 Rhode Island Avenue Brentwood, MD 20722.  Call the center at 301-277-2863/ tty. 301-446-6802.

When you're done with your Photoshop class, stay at the Brentwood Arts Exchange for the opening of Sherill Anne Gross's "Pretty Little Things" a wonderful exhibit featuring the artist's most recent cut-outs.  The opening is from 5pm to 8pm.

Head back into DC for the opening of noted local street artist Tim Colon's "Derailed" at Studio H located at 408a H ST NE on the second floor.  The opening begins at 6pm and ends at 9pm.  The show features hand painted graffiti on toy trains, photographs of Conlon's "pieces" and mixed media painting.  The event will be catered by Dangerously Delicious Pies of H ST NE fame.

On Sunday, from 5:30 to 6:30pm head over to Park Cafe at 106 13th ST NE to view Kay Elsasser's latest watercolors and to enjoy a wonderful dinner.
