Weekend East City Event Round Up
It's back to the galleries this September as Saturday September 11 is shaping up to be one the biggest opening weekends in East City history.  Something "Big" will be revealed in Anacostia, a new waterfront in SE just blocks from barracks row will showcase dozens of local artists and Eight openings are scheduled on the Hill and H Street.

Friday September 10
"The Big Reveal" will take place in Historic Anacostia at the footsteps of the "Big Chair" on the corner of Martin Luther King avenue and V street SE.  The event runs from 5:30pm to 8pm. 

Art Whino opens "Beautiful Minds" at The Yards Park Grand Opening weekend celebration.  Festivities begin at 3:30pm until 11pm.  Over 60 local artists will exhibit their works at 10 water Street SE at the intersection of 3rd St SE and Water St SE.


Saturday September 11
The Capitol Hill Art League (CHAL) opens "Walk on the Wild Side", a multimedia show in honor of the recently departed Hill artist Wally Szyndler.  The reception runs from 5pm to 7pm

The Corner Store opens Alec Simpson "Digital Expression: 23rd Psalm Series" from 5pm to 8pm.

The Fridge presents "Potty Trained at Gunpoint" featuring new work by John Tsombikos of BORF Fame.  The reception runs from 6pm to 10pm

Evolve Urban Arts Project presents "What We Leave Behind" featuring encaustic collage artist Marty Ittner and painter Michele Cormier.  The opening begins at 4pm and closes at 8pm.

Over on Florida Ave, see three exhibits door-to-door.  First, G Fine Art presents Julia Oldham "Strange Readings" an exploration of physics and art.  The opening show runs from 6:30pm to 8:30pm

Conner Contemporary Art launches three concurrent shows.  The first is John Kirchner "Infinity", the second is John Stark "Mercurius Duplex" and Third Susam Macwilliam: Video.  Doors open at 6pm and close at 8pm.

Above Conner, Industry Gallery presents two new designs entitled "Nature/Data" by architect and designer Antonio Pio Saracino.  The show run from 6pm to 8pm.

CITY Gallery opens "Night Goat and Other Flights of Fancy", new works by Ellen Cornett.  The opening reception begins at 6pm and ends at 9pm.
